Cowboys Charge to Second Place

LONGVIEW, Texas - LONGVIEW, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team shot its best two rounds of the spring season with a 306 and a 297 and are in second place at the LeTourneau Invitational at the par-70, 6,503-yard Pinecrest Country Club in Longview.

Paul Schaub led the Cowboys with rounds of 74 and 73 and is in third place overall with a 147, two shots behind co-leaders Drew Johnson and Dean Rodgers of UT-Tyler. Davey Davis had two solids rounds, including a career-best 72 in the second round after a 77 in round for a 149, good for a tie for sixth place overall.

J.C. Eagle rallied back from an 80 in the first round with a 72 in round two to shot a 152. Travis Brown shot 75-80-155 and Brian Laing shot 85-84-169 to round out the HSU lineup.

UT-Tyler leads the tournament after shooting a 295 followed by a 296. They will take a 12-shot lead into the final 18 holes of the tournament on Tuesday,
