TYLER, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' men's golf team is in sixth place after the first round of the UT Tyler Fall Invitational, which was played Monday at the Holly Tree Country Club in Tyler.

The Cowboys shot a 305 and are eight strokes back of leader UT Tyler.

J.C. Eagle led the Cowboys with an even-par 72 and he is currently tied for fourth, two strokes behind Patrick Palmer of LeTourneau.

Sam Antony and Michael Weehunt each shot 77's and Brad Leeper carded a 78 to round out the scoring. Brian Laing's 93 was the Cowboys' throw out score.

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
